OFFICE
CREW
Chris Bakken
General Manager, Chris Bakken, is a Northwest native and lifelong boater. Born in Port Angeles, Chris grew up in Seattle and Oregon and spent his childhood on both fresh and saltwater. Chris has a degree in Marine Biology from Oregon State University and a lifelong interest in boats and in business. Chris wears many hats at SEA Marine--if you don't find him in his office, he'll be on the dock...or in the paint shop...or the Navy building...or in the parts department (you get the picture).

Sarah McHugh
Sarah is our Operations Manager and customer contact for the Canvas Department. Her background in the hospitality industry has proven invaluable as she ensures efficiency of customer service and operations at SEA Marine. "Creative Problem Solver" could very well be her title!

Ginger Brown
Financial Manager, Ginger is the glue that holds SEA Marine together. Ginger has done small business and tax accounting for 30 years from the construction industry to marine trades. She is efficient and innovative in addition to being a pleasure to deal with on the phone and in person. Ginger spent her childhood on the water in the Puget Sound and boating has a special place in her heart. She settled in Port Ludlow and raised her three daughters here.
Jessica Miles
As Front Office Coordinator, Jessica is the face and voice of SEA Marine. When not answering phones and helping customers, Jessica helps Ginger and Sarah keep Work Orders organized and assists with invoicing.

Andrew Bakken
If you have a question about anything going on at SEA Marine, Andrew probably knows the answer! He operates the forklift and helps with the yard trailer, as well as being the "go-to" guy for ice and propane. Andrew takes pride in his work and is always willing to lend a hand.

"The crew’s knowledge, expertise and friendly helpfulness cannot be overstated."
SERVICE
CREW
Bob McMurray
Matt has been at SEA Marine for over a decade. He started at the bottom, literally, as a bottom painter, then over the years became skilled at additional aspects of boat repair and maintenance. He now specializes in fiberglass, gel coat repair and finish work, but is also great at general electrical and mechanical.

Matt Gittings

Bob is a perfectionist and craftsman extraordinaire. If he isn’t in the wood shop building custom cabinets, he can be found replacing a worn out engine with a brand new Beta. Systems engineering is his forte, whether electrical or mechanical. Sailing is his passion and his Baba 30 a personal project.
Jeremy Lala
Our Service Manager, Jeremy, has lived in Port Townsend his whole life, other than the 3 years he spent in Thailand as a YouthConnect instructor. Jeremy is a motorcycle enthusiast and devoted over 7 years to servicing them before he came to SEA to focus on boat mechanics. Jeremy is also at home operating BIG machines, as owner and operator of Eco-Logic Land Clearing.

Jackson Lowder
Jackson learned from the best...his dad. Mark Lowder was the lift operator for SEA Marine for several years and during that time Jackson worked in the yard as a bottom painter, but also learned to operate the Travelift. Jackson worked in different yards for 5 years, but we were lucky enough to entice him back to SEA where he moves boats around like an old pro.

Clay Jones

Clay is our Quality Control Supervisor. He not only contributes his extensive knowledge and experience in all things mechanical, Clay makes sure that every job is done to the customer's satisfaction before it leaves our dock or yard.
Cameron Schweitzer
Cam was born and raised in Bonney Lake. His experience is with car engines but his energetic attitude and willingness to learn has made the transition to boats seamless. He credits the wealth of knowledge and experience of his co-workers for his quick learning curve.
Rigel Carlson
Ed Mensing

Ed is a certified semi-truck technician but he discovered boats are much more interesting than trucks. He especially enjoys rebuilding engines and his experience rounds out our service team. Ed is probably our most well-traveled employee, as he used to lead tours all over the world.
Rigel brings some youthful energy to the yard. He helps operate the TraveLift and is also enthusiastic and helpful with any job that needs doing. We appreciate Rigel's willingness to learn and pitch in where needed.
"Prompt, knowledgeable service on an emergency engine repair.
Would use again without hesitation."

Sandy Bakken
BROKERAGE
Sandy is a crew of one, but she will skillfully handle your boat sale or purchase down to the smallest
detail. Her background in fine art and design gives her a unique perspective and appreciation for the aesthetic qualities of a boat. Sandy's years of boating on the Oregon Coast during her childhood and in the San Juans in later life have provided the knowledge and experience to give practical advice to both buyers and sellers.
"I can't say enough about how she helped make the purchase quick a painless. If you're looking for a broker Sandy Bakken at SEA Marine can help you out."
CANVAS
CREW
Daniele & Jeff Johnson
Hailing from Soldotna, Alaska, Daniele’s passion for sewing started when she purchased her own sewing machine at age 10. Daniele honed her skills working alongside her mother in her upholstery shop. Sewing boat canvas struck a chord and in 2011 she purchased Port Townsend Canvas. Daniele joined the SEA Marine family in 2016 and she still owns that first sewing machine.
Jeff's technical skills and creative problem solving pair perfectly with Daniele's sewing talent. Jeff was an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy then worked as a mechanic in both marine and auto industries for nearly 30 years. Jeff loves nothing more than the challenge of creating custom solutions for boat canvas and cover projects.
Jeff Burritt

Jeff was a welcome addition when he joined the crew in our Sail Loft in 2022. His technical skills and "can do" attitude are great assets to the team. His sewing experience was acquired rigging parachutes and he can build just about anything. Jeff bought a sailboat soon after moving to Washington and holds the honor of being SEA Marine's only liveaboard.

Jane Booker
Jane is trained to build boats, both fiberglass and aluminum. She did rigging and electrical work as well, before trying her hand at marine upholstery. She likes the creative aspect of canvas and upholstery work and enjoys the variety of projects at SEA Marine. Jane grew up on the East Coast and came West to attend UW.

I highly recommend SEA Marine for any canvas work that you may need. Great job Daniele and crew!!!! We are so happy with our beautiful new canvas!

Sean Brown
Sean, our resident Hawaiian, is known for his positive attitude, incredible smile and impeccable style. He is frequently seen around the yard in his classy white Tyvek suit. Whether wielding a brush or roller, he is always on task. He arrives at the crack of dawn to work his magic and it’s no wonder customers come back every two years to have their bottom
work done. His reputation is built on quality.
Aaron Boutilier
Aaron is a PT local who grew up helping his father at the Auto Body Shop.
At age 6 he was sweeping floors and by 16 he'd started painting cars. He took a short diversion to paint houses in Montana, but the lure of his home-town brought him back. After almost 10 years of painting cars locally, Townsend Bay Marine recruited him to paint boats and he’s been a boat painter ever since. An amazing technician with unparalleled attention to detail, the finish results are consistently flawless.
