Eric was born in the Netherlands in 1964 where he started sailing at the age of 5. He used to sail on the North Sea with his parents on a steel sailboat battling 30 ft. tides
and 6 knot currents, eating hot soup, secured with a harness in the cockpit to stay warm in the snow storms. This is when he fell in love with sailing. When he went to a
career consultant and told her he wanted to sail for a living, the consultant told him that was impossible.
In his 20s’ he ended up sailing in the Caribbean and has made his living with boats ever since. He has worked on many different type on boats both power and sail. He has
been an officer on a 165’ yacht, sailed a 60’ racing catamaran, worked for a towing service, owned a charter boat business in Key West which is where he met his wife.
He has owned a 36’ Wharram Catamaran, a 27 ft center console power boat, a Cuban fishing smack, a 52’ 1905 steel North Sea Fishing trawler and a Howard Chappelle Dory.
He currently owns only windsurfers and surf boards, however is dreaming about another boat (probably power). He finally stepped ashore and bought a house in 2010.
He is an ABYC certified master technician, a US Coast Guard certified Captain and a RYA certified Yacht Master Offshore.
Eric speaks 3 languages, has sailed many miles, crossed oceans. He is very familiar with boat systems and looks forward to helping you with your sale or purchase in
an objective manner.
